Story Re-telling and Re-enacting and Yoga Time in Pre-K 100!




One of the exciting shifts in our Read Aloud lately has been finding new ways to retell our favorite stories. First, we tried re-reading our favorite stories and acting them out. Friends took turns playing different roles in classic stories like the Little Red Hen and the Three Little Pigs. Then, we decided that we needed some props and costumes! During center time, some friends drew, cut, colored, and created houses and barns for the SETTING, and character headbands for the costumes.  Here are some exciting pictures of our class re-enacting The Three Little Pigs. Re-reading and acting out our favorite stories is a great way to build story language and a sense of how stories go (we meet characters, who live in a setting, who face a problem, then solve it and often learn a lesson in the end).


                           










Learning Letters and Sounds
 We continue our study of learning letters and sounds by working with the letters using multiple modalities. Some friends build their name with letter tiles. Some write their name with paint. Some write it in sand. Some roll playdough and form the letters of their name on top of letter cards. Practicing how to form and say the sound of letters in many ways is a great way to learn because it uses all of our senses!

As the weather gets colder, we have been thinking of ways to stretch and move our bodies inside. One of our friends offered to teach us some yoga moves! These moves are terrific ways to relax and awaken our bodies, and the moves also require us to take long, deep breaths with is important to help get plenty of oxygen to our brains and all the parts of our bodies!
