Pre-k 106 in October

Pre K 106 Welcomes Fall!!

In Math we are learning how to sort the same objects into two groups.  The children are sorting objects by color, size or any other common factor. We are sorting things that are large or small.

At home, give your child a group of objects to sort (cars, toys, socks) and ask: How did you sort those objects? Can you sort them in a different way?

In Dramatic Play Allison sorted her shopping cart by buying  all fruit!!
In Table Toys Lucas made trains from blocks and sorted by colors.

In Read Aloud we are learning that mommies, daddies and caregivers sometimes go away while children are in school but they always return at the end of the day.
It is important that children feel safe.

Some of the books we have read that explore this idea are:

Owl Babies
Hug Machine
Hug
You Go Away

Please take time to talk to your child daily about what they are learning in school.

The Unit Study for the Month of September is Welcome to School!

We want your child to feel welcome, to familiarize themselves with their peers, and to understand that school is a safe place. Children will be learning through purposeful play. Our Work Center Time will have a central theme that is displayed across all centers and will naturally and effectively assess your child’s learning.  Through Work Center Time, with guidance and support your child will develop appropriate social and emotional skills, as well as fine and gross motor skills, and key components of math, reading and writing readiness. We look forward to sharing our plans with you at Parent Night!

Parent collaboration is the key to your child’s success.
There are several ways you can be apart of your child’s school community!
